Looking for the Right Orthodontist

March 28, 2016

Getting up in the morning can be a drag for people who are not the morning type. Considering that I slept late last night due to online work, my 7am routine was kind of confusing. Now the reason I had to wake up pretty early is because I still have kids to take care of and my husband was currently on a business trip. He usually pitches in for me during these kinds of situations, but for now, I was on my own versus three young kids. What made this morning worse was my two of my children were shouting on their way downstairs and my one year old in my arms decided to pitch in. Apparently, my eldest just lost her last baby tooth.

So it was 7am in the morning and all of my kids were like they were in a party. At the time, I didn’t get what my kids were trying to tell me immediately maybe because the caffeine didn’t hit me yet. So, if you can imagine three kids shouting for minutes and you have no idea why. In my confusion, I myself shouted and told them to keep quiet. I just prepared my kids lunches and sent them off. So I never learned what my kid was trying to tell me.

When they did get home, I apologized and clearly asked what my daughter was trying to say. To my amazement, she didn’t have any baby teeth anymore. The first thing that came to my mind was how her permanent teeth would develop. I suggested that we pay a visit to the dentist once the new teeth pops out. My daughter’s facial expression didn’t look pleased but she eventually calmed down about the idea.

Once we did go to the dentist, she examined my daughter’s teeth. She told me a lot about how the teeth would develop and also made a suggestion that my daughter get braces. I asked the dentist if she does do braces but she doesn’t. Apparently those who put braces on people are called orthodontists and they have more knowledge regarding corrective devices on teeth.

So now I was looking for an orthodontist who could apply braces to my daughter’s teeth. The first thing I did was looking online or even the yellow pages which I still had. I found a number of orthodontists and tried giving a call. Most did answer and I made some inquiries and other concerns. What I was really concerned about was the experience of the person. I had to make sure the person working on my daughter’s teeth was experienced. Also, I needed to know how this person works and how he treats his patients.

The best way I found in looking for a good orthodontist was asking my friends and family. I was noticing a common answer among them and I decided to take my daughter to that orthodontist. I was very happy with the service and my daughter liked the orthodontist as well.
